Welcome!

The Commodity Chains that Bind is a project of the International Development course in the department of Development Sociology at Cornell University. We examine the systems that bring commodities to market, connecting producers and consumers in complex and often invisibilized ways. In addition to understanding the social and ecological impacts of global consumerism, our work is also focused on seeking just and sustainable solutions to these problems. The photos below, and the menu items above, link to content areas for each of our commodity chains. We intend this site as a source of information, resources, and community. Please share, comment, and check back for updates.
