This section of the blog will be a center for alternative solutions. It is easy to criticize, to rant about why a system doesn’t work. It is much harder to dream up a better one. I want to showcase those groups that are effecting positive change and actively working to change the supply chain of college apparel.
United Students Against Sweatshops is a student led group that unites university students on an international scale and stands in solidarity with garment workers who produce college apparel. USAS has run successful campaigns targeting Russel, Nike, and most recently Adidas. USAS has worked to instill campus codes of conduct, the Designated Suppliers Program, and the Workers Rights Consortium as tools for Universities to use to promote workers’ rights.
